I use Grasshopper to maintain consistency in contact information over time so that past customers have contact information that does not expire. I also use it to maintain direct contact between staff and customers no matter where a staff member may be or what time it is, they can be contacted immediately if required.
  • Allows you to keep a consistent phone number over time.
  • Allows instant contact between the customer and the business.
  • Easily replaces more cumbersome and expensive physical phone systems.
  • There is a bit of a learning curve in setting up systems, but that is not unusual for any system.
  • In years of experience, that's all I can come up with that poses any sort of problem!
I have seen Grasshopper operate in a variety of businesses with success. I can't think of where it would be a poor choice.

  • Positive: I get calls from people with really old contact information, but the phone number has remained the same even though the company has moved more than once. Retaining those customers makes money for me.
I have not tested other systems. Grasshopper worked fine and it would have been a waste of time to explore others.
Support has always been fast and overcome any issue I have ever had very (very) quickly.

I use Grasshopper on a daily basis as my business phone number to field calls and have a designated 800 number. The 800-number allows me to have a consistent identity so that if I relocate my office space I can take the number with me. It has been a great timesaver and corporate identity piece. I would recommend it for new business owners as well as seasoned businesses.

Very easy to get started and low learning curve. Customer service is friendly and accessible but there is a lot of information online on their website to troubleshoot any issues.

What went into my decision making process was price, ease-of-use, being able to port or carry over my 800 number no matter what my physical location would be. How I came upon Grasshopper is because I moved from one office location to another and the business number I had for that original location was tied to that location and I could not take it with me.
The few times I’ve had to contact Grasshopper, I had great customer service and my issues were handled professionally and quickly.

When you want to implement a large phone system but you don't have a budget for many separate numbers, this is where Grasshopper comes in. We use it as our main extension for our circus school. Our different agents each have extensions that forward directly to their cell phones which allows us to maximize our reach.
  • The calls sent directly to your cell phone is a huge plus.
  • I really enjoy receiving the voice messages in email form so I can listen to them on my computer.
  • The process of selecting a phone number and getting everything set up was straightforward
  • The user interface feels slightly dated
  • Little bit of a learning curve figuring out how to set up everything
It is well suited if you run a business, work with many contractors, and want each contractor to have a phone number that is able to be reached from a mainline. This is where Grasshopper excels. You get your main number and apply extensions for all the people you work with, then your company could be unified with one phone number. Each contractor can still have their own cell phone with their own personal number and just received a forwarded call. This helped us a lot!

  • When setting up my business I was debating getting a cell phone with a new number specific to that business, but Grasshopper allows me to keep my same phone number by having an 888 number that can be forwarded to my existing phone. This saves me a big phone bill each month.
  • Receiving voice messages via email allows me to expedite response or forwarding the email along with voice message to the proper agent, again saving time and money.
  • The use of extensions, with custom answering messages can streamline and help filter some calls, like giving directions to our facility or where to go to get more information.
We didn't really try out too many other options besides Grasshopper. I read multiple views online and Grasshopper was highly rated. So far, it has met all of our phone needs and has performed like a champ. I see no reason to try out anything else at this point, however I'm always open to see what the next big thing might be.
